Have you ever considered working at a nursery? Pandering purty posies all day, getting paid to blather on about gardening with an endless stream of nice people who come in with their perfectly behaved dogs and children? Taking advantage of your employer's amazingly generous employee discount to furnish your own private paradise? Sleeping like a baby after a day of honest toil, elegantly bronzed from the sun and flushed with Vitamin D?

Heh...dream on! It IS a wonderful life and it contains all the elements mentioned above, but it also kinda sucks some days. You'll get wet, you'll get dirty, dogs and kids will go berserk and people are mostly nice but sometimes someone has a bad day and is hell-bent on sharing it with you. Oh, and the pay's lousy (average starting wage is about $2/hr. higher than minimum wage), it's all part-time and there are no bennies whatsoever.

Despite these grim indictments, we're fully staffed at present and probably not hiring any more this spring. Any available positions will be announced here first, other than word-of-mouth. It's a small shop and we all multi-task so if you're interested in future employment at ECG, here's a list of the universal qualifications we're looking for:

These are the basics. Beyond them we consider your special abilities (display? compost guru?), your quirks (if you bray like a donkey when you laugh, can we live with it?) and whatever else strikes us on the particular day we consider you. Thanks for your interest and best of luck!
